Creating the Government’s Financial Tools

Buy.GSA.gov wanted to create a central hub for all of their financial estimation tools. This hub was called Pricing Central. They wanted to create several tools. Systems such as, Prices Proposed, Prices Paid, The Bureau of Labor Statistics financial tool (BLS), The Price Analysis Tool, and The Independent Government Cost Estimate tool (IGCE). The basis of this hub was to allow contractors the ability to calculate very precise estimates for their contract proposals. These tools were precisely for the estimates of workers on the proposing contract.

Understanding the project

So the objective here was the creation of a hub that host several financial estimation tools for contractors. Prices Proposed, Prices Paid, The Bureau of Labor Statistics financial tool (BLS), The Price Analysis Tool, and The Independent Government Cost Estimate tool (IGCE). User research was done on all of these tools, and adjustments were made after many usability tests, to craft the perfect experiences. I was the lead designer, and responsible for the visual identity, UX design, and interaction design for all of these sites. Some of these sites, particularly the IGCE, had a multitude of pages; this included a wizard/stepper, text fields and form inputs, entry and exit pages, modals, selections, and more. The applications are shown below. I would love to talk to you about all that was involved.
